The Veteran’s Health Administration is interested in examining the potential utility of Sun Microsystem's Jini technology, and our distributed workflow automation layer built on top of Jini, as part of a possible future iteration of the HealtheVet architecture. The Jini technology makes a network more dynamic by allowing plug-and-play services and devices, and it provides mechanisms for those services and devices to join and detach from networks dynamically without the need for configuring each device. Informatics, Inc. is developing an outpatient diabetes orders management prototype that will include order generation, results management, and follow-up actions (e.g. a provider takes appropriate action base on order results).
